Rusty pelican key biscayne10/7/2023 The chef seems to have a thing for corn, as most dishes had this included somehow. I had some pretty spectacular lobster bisque and a crab cake that was almost too pretty to eat. I think they managed to improve on the food as well. I was a bit apprehensive when I saw the menu was totally different since I so enjoyed my first meal. The spectacular view of Miami Bay is showcased by the modern decor, and their wine selection has grown exponentially. We came back this March and holy renovation! It is GOREGOUS now. The decor left something to be desired, unless you really like fake fish and nets on the walls, but the food was spot on. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you don't mind paying a lot of money for stunning views of downtown Miami and puny amounts of food.īoyfriend took me here for the first time about two years ago. My wife and I split several "small plates", 2 main course dinners and dessert and left hungry!!! The prices are outrageous for the amount of food you get. There is also a $6 charge for valet service!!! This could be an amazing place with the new atmosphere and decor, but with the "old" menu. VERY small is the only way to describe them. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. All of the food was fresh and very delicious, although they seem to really stress appetizers or "small plates" instead of the main courses. The staff, including our waiter, were top notch. The "old" Rusty Pelican's decor needed to be updated in a big way so I was very happy to see what was done. Well let's just say that we were disappointed. A major renovation was completed late in 2011 and my wife and I were eager to try the "new" Rusty Pelican. The Rusty Pelican was a Miami landmark for great seafood, friendly service and outstanding views of downtown Miami.
